Leadership Development

Conscious Leadership = A Motivated Workforce

“What’s the meaning of conscious leadership? More importantly how can you use the power of being a conscious leader to maintain a motivated workforce?

Conscious means, aware of and responding to one’s surroundings; awake. In this video post  I share with you a central aspect of the ancient wisdom leadership skills so you can get a grasp on why you’re going to want to practice conscious leadership.

Leading in business is like life and that you can make it a lot easier for yourself if you stay awake…if you pay attention to your surroundings and respond to them. This as opposed to responding to what you think is happening or projecting your thoughts and emotions onto the world around you.

In the case of leadership at work…staying conscious…knowing yourself and your propensity to project and remaining awake makes it so much easier to practice emotional intelligence.

In our busy day-to-day I know it can be so easy to slip into a slumber where we just slog through the day. When this happens we’re slogging through all of our encounters with the people we have relationships with. This results in missing a lot of daily opportunities to really connect with people and motivate them.

A conscious leader has full access to mental clarity and their intuition simultaneously to respond in each situation to do the following…

  • Effectively handle the situation or challenge

  • Establish rapport and connection with the team member

  • Inspire those around them during the busy day-to-day

In our Ancient Wisdom Leadership Training we discuss “instances of opportunity.” What this means is that everyday is full of many opportunities to grow and fulfill potential…for yourself and your team. Most people miss these opportunities because they’re asleep. They’re just slogging through their day.

The conscious leader knows that the power is in the moment and each moment…each day is unique and full of opportunities to motivate people using inspiration, letting them know they matter and that what they do is important.

Today is Shift the Focus Friday, so my question to you is…

”How can you shift your focus from slogging through your days to remembering that there are no ordinary moments and each day is full of opportunity?”

I like to use a mindfulness technique that I learned from Ancient Wisdom Keepers. You can get this technique by clicking the link associated with this video.

Until next time…Lead with a Commanding Presence

John”
